What do you do for/on your birthday? Do you make a big deal out of it? Do you ignore it? I usually try and ignore my birthday. I’m not too fond of the holidays in general. My work went all out and that was fun. Facebook friends wished me a happy birthday. Again that was fun.
My day: Stressful workday, sick mother, constipated child, fevered child, dramatic child, 50 blood sugar, yummy pizza, being sang to repeatedly, getting yelled at for not answering my phone, two brothers and one sister in law wishing me a happy birthday, one headache, ecstatic puppy, frustration, elation, exhaustion, laundry, poop, smiles, lethargic, lost internet.
It’s just another day in the Vermillion household. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Looking back, I have had some awesome birthdays.
16- I got my drivers license. Who cares if I could date? I could DRIVE.
21- I could get my CPL (concealed pistol’s license). They no longer call is a concealed weapons permit. They only want you concealing your pistol. Not a knife or other weapons.
25- I could rent a car now that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg!
30- Spent it all day in the NICU with Amy Lynne. (it would have been much better if I’d have been able to hold her)
So you wonder how old I am? Well… can I be 29 again? Forever in my 20’s? Nah, I enjoy being in my 30’s. I feel more accomplished. And I feel like I’m taken more seriously. Even if I’m not. I’m 34 today. I’m officially in my mid-thirties. I thought this day would never come. I really hope time would slow down. I’m in no hurry to be 40 however, I’m afraid that’s coming faster that I’m anticipating.
Oh yeah, and Lily got up on one of the conference table chairs, calmly looked at my mother and asked her if she was wearing a new shirt. *sigh* That child!
