Hunger Games

Did you read them? If so, what did you think of them? I had heard of them. I had even heard some other LDS women who said that they liked it that it didn’t have any real inappropriate parts to the book, that it was a wholesome good read.

I’m sorry, what did you say?? What is wholesome about these books??

So, about a week ago, Lauren asked me if she could read the Hunger Games. Since I had heard from some other women in blog land that it was a good book I told Lauren that she could read them. So we downloaded the first two books since the library was literally taking weeks to get them in. Even today, we still don’t have the first two. Since it’s on my kindle, and I can download them onto my phone, I read them first.

*Spoil Alert*

I’m sorry, but what do these women thing is so good and wholesome about this book? It’s about teenage children going into an arena and kill each other until one is left. Except this teenager that the book is about doesn’t do what the capitol wants her to do. It spans into three books and I personally think they are horrible books. I will still let my girls’ read them.

So I have a question to pose out there. Have you read the Hunger Games series and if so, do you disagree with me or agree with me? Or do you have a totally different outlook on these books? I’m seriously curious about what you think. You can even post anonymous if you would like. Open-mouthed smile

Your kids do NOT need to read shit like that!! There are lots of other books that are better. Lots of classics that can be downloaded for free.

  2. I haven't read it, but Allie is visiting and she is reading the 2nd book right now. She's liked them so far. Not sure I would let the kiddos read them. I would probably do what you're doing, read it with them and then talk about it. There's my 2 cents without really knowing what's going on. :)

I started to read the first one. I got it from a friend at church :o). Honestly, I couldn't get through the first couple of pages without falling asleep.
